Tell us a little about you and your creations.
I am retired as an Accountant from Amoco and currently work part time as a courier in addition to working on my soda can jewelry and magnets. This is the first time that I have ever done anything creative. I am really enjoying working on my craft and hope to get better as I go along. My husband and I do booths together. He just retired from American Airlines and is a wood turner. He has the fine art, and I have the “pop” art.
Where did your business name come from?
I came up with my business name, UnCanny Creations, myself. I wanted a name which was “catchy” but gave a hint about what my product is.
What do YOU love about your products?
I love that my products are simple and inexpensive. I also like that I am doing a small part by recycling aluminum cans.
What sets your creations apart from others?
I want it to be evident to the customers that my product is made from your favorite beer or soda can. I want my products to be pretty, but not overly fancy. I have seen some soda can earrings that you could never tell what they are made of.
Where do you find inspiration?
Every time I see a can, I think about how it would look as a magnet or necklace. It’s a good thing that cans are everywhere (especially in the recycle containers at work).
What craft would you like to learn more about?
I would like to learn how to crochet. There are such cute things that you can make.
The Alliday Show believes that every day is special and should be treated as a holiday! That being said, which holiday do you wish were every day and why?
I think every day should be a holiday too. I love Easter and the Springtime. New life, rebirth, and chocolate, it doesn’t get any better.
If you could create your own holiday, what would it be and why?
I love my birthday, so I guess I would make it a National holiday. Free cake for everyone!
How would you describe your work in three words?
Unusual, functional, and fun
