Tell us a little about yourself and your creative business.
Hi! I’m Hannah. I am the owner and designer of Three Eleven Designs. Three Eleven Designs is a custom design studio. By pairing hand calligraphy with technology, all products are designed to inspire the every day. I work with paper goods, plastic, and lasers. Everything is made with my own hand calligraphy, giving a more personalized touch to each item created. Each scripted item is worked until it is just right. I think that makes Three Eleven Designs different, each word is made from scratch.
Any special story as to how you created your business name?
The name for my company is based from Ecclesiastes 3:11. The Lord has made "everything beautiful in its time." Every piece of our lives is different along the way and the Lord has made right where you are BEAUTIFUL, even at the times we don't want to believe it. Live in His grace, and find how He has made right where you are beautiful. That is what this company is about.
"He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, He has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11
Why were you drawn to starting a creative business?
Through my education, I learned how to bring creative thoughts to life by mixing them with a dynamic use of technology. After graduating from Texas A&M University (whoop) in 2010, I then spent a year working on a masters in Architecture at Louisiana State University (geaux tigers!). I decided to leave after a year at LSU, and dive into the booming job market (ha!). When I left, I didn't have an idea of what I was going to do, and had no job lined up. As I began to think of what I would like to do, and looked for jobs, the Lord placed it in me to start something on my own. I have always had a love for good design, and I love making items that spark a little creativity in everyone and cause us to celebrate even the little things. The base for Three Eleven Designs quickly fell into place, and was launched in November of 2011. By using my own hand calligraphy and drawings to create customized designs, I use laser cutting and printing techniques to make unique items for my customer.
What do YOU love most about your work?
I love is figuring out exactly how to make something work. I love the idea that starts it, but it is always fun and sometimes a surprising road to get whatever it is to look the way you want. You never know what materials with give you the exact feel you want! I love using precise technology to bring a project together and create beautiful things.
Where do you find inspiration?
I like to explore places- whether in my own city or abroad, go on a walk, find antique or flea markets to search through, or just go to fun places to eat with people I love. I've always got a little notebook with me, and if it happens to not be there, I make notes in my phone! It can be a line, taste, smell, or a laugh. Inspiration can come from anywhere at any time, you just have to see it.
